Borderlands Solidarity Economy
Borderlands Solidarity Economy
A solidarity economy is based upon diverse economic activities that promote solidarity, coooperation, and democracy.

The concept of a solidarity economy originated in Latin America in the late 1980's largely in response to economic distress arising from global capitalism. Today it one of the most prominent alternative economic models recognized globally that improves the well-being of individuals, communities, and society by addressing economic distress, strengthening social bonds, and advancing environmental sustainability.

We are working to build a solidarity economy in the borderlands of Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas through raising awareness of the solidarity economy and exploring the form it is taking in our communities.
