Borderlands Solidarity Economy
Borderlands Solidarity Economy
A solidarity economy is based upon diverse economic activities that promote solidarity, coooperation, and democracy.

The concept of a solidarity economy originated in Latin America in the late 1980's largely in response to economic distress. Today it is a widely recognized alternative economic model that improves the well-being of individuals, communities, and society by addressing economic distress, strengthening social bonds, and advancing environmental sustainability.

We are working to build a solidarity economy in the borderlands of Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas through raising awareness of economic alternatives that currently exist in our communities, and creating new economic alternatives.
